Roosevelt Lake in northern Crow Wing County and the Sauk River chain of lakes in Stearns County southwest of St. Cloud will be stocked with muskellunge this fall.
This is in response to growing angler interest, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Not all the lakes on the proposed list will be stocked at this time it is a postivie result of the hardwork of many people dedicated to responsibily growing the muskie fishery in Minnesota.

Eight-year-old David Jacobson landed this 57 x 27-inch muskie on Mille Lacs in early November. David did a fabulous job fighting the fish with only minimal help from dad, Eric (Just Big Muskies DVDs).
Eric said it was “definitely all his fish! And he didn't think twice about releasing it!!” The fight was captured on film, so maybe we’ll all get to see it.
All of us have bucktails, spinnerbaits, or buzzbaits that are not getting used. We also need to get more youth involved with musky fishing and attending our MI meetings. Tom Keith proposed to the Board of Directors to combine the two issues.

If members would bring in old lures to the meetings, he will either refurbish them or take the usable components and rebuild them. The plan is to give one away to each child under the age of 18 at each meeting. That might help encourage them to attend more meetings. If the response is good from the Chapter, there might be enough to also distribute them during our chapter sponsored Military Family Fishing Day.
If you have bucktail, flashabou, beads, blades, clevises, or bodies that you are not going to use, we could use them to expand this program. Please bring anything you would be willing to give to the next chapter meeting you attend. If you want to get involved with the making of the lures, please contact Tom Keith.
Join us for a “Winter Picnic” of BBQ sandwiches with accompaniments and dessert. We will start serving at 6:30 p.m.
After we eat, winners of our chapter’s Members Only Contest will receive their awards. Also plan on hearing some “Muskie Tails” and see the presentation of the “Tail” to the winner.
Meetings are located at the Knights of Columbus Hall 1114 American Blvd West, Bloomington, MN [map].

Everyone has a chance and is entered in the grand prize drawing which has been a resort stay to Whitefish Bay Camp on Lake of the Woods and cash by caughting one muskie of 40 inches or larger.
Remember to register your fish and join the members only contest. It's all about bragging rights. We all know people who fish love to brag and tell 'accurate' stories.
