Minnesota statute 84D.09 prohibits the transportation of aquatic
vegetation on any public roadway including state forest roads. This
statue also prohibits the placement of any watercraft or trailer into
State waters that has any aquatic vegetation, zebra mussels, or
prohibited exotics species attached. Tournament sponsors will
require inspections of all watercraft when entering or leaving
tournament waters. Inspections will include a thorough search,
inside and out, for the presence of any aquatic vegetation, and
other prohibited exotic species, including zebra mussels. No boat
may be launched when entering tournament waters until all
vegetative materials have been removed and properly disposed of,
and until all live wells and bilges have been drained and boats
have been made free of any prohibited exotic species. Similar
inspections must be made when leaving tournament waters.
Tournament officials and/or contestants may not usurp the boat ramp(s) or parking spaces at a public access. Tournament anglers may not usurp an area of the lake to the exclusion of non-tournament anglers. All anglers, whether participating in the contest or not, must be allowed access to all areas of the lake surface.
Muskellunge entered in the catch and release division shall not be
held in livewells…. Culling or livewell sorting is prohibited. …Fish
released by anglers must be capable of holding themselves
upright in the water and have a high probability of survival. Under
no circumstances will a muskellunge exceeding the legal length
limit in poor condition, likely to succumb to post-release mortality,
be released. (M.S. 6212.2600, subp. 2)
